MUSIC:EAST is an exciting new music provision offering 1:1 instrument tuition and bespoke opportunities to schools across East Anglia. We employ experienced teachers with a wide range of performance experience across a range of musical genres. We are a musician lead service, with a pupil centred approach and mission to offer a service which caters to the individual needs of both the pupil and a school, rather than a ‘one size fits all’ approach.

Our tutors are all trained to deliver tuition up to a Grade 8 standard, and in addition have a vast range of experience as working musicians. This includes performance, composition, running ensembles, recording, mixing/post production, song-writing, theatre commissions, music consultancy, band management, tour booking, sound engineering, workshops, masterclasses.

All tutors are equipped with a wide range of skills to support children and young people in exploring and navigating a career in the music or the Arts.

WHAT TUITION IS AVAILABLE?

We are currently able to offer tuition in the following:

- Guitar
- Bass
- Drums
- piano
- Voice
- Violin
- Cello
- Mandolin
- Banjo
- Ukulele

WHY SHOULD I CHOSE MUSIC:EAST?

Our competitive hourly rate not only includes 1:1 tuition, but also the support and opportunities outlined below. If you chose to work with Music:East you can also be assured that all of our tutors are paid fairly, and we care about the welfare of our staff as well as our pupils.

HOW MUCH DO YOU CHARGE?

Music:East works on a sliding scale, charging £34-£38 an hour, and this can cover the following:

- 1:1 lessons.
- Timetabling.
- DBS checks and ensuring all tutors are enrolled on the update system.
- Safeguarding training and ensuring this is up to date.
- Invoicing parents.
- Invoicing school for pupil premium students.
- Teaching materials for tutors at no added cost to the school.
- Free or subsidised workshop opportunities.
- Free or subsidised performance offers from touring musicians.
- Free or subsidised lessons from guest tutors.
- Cover tuition If tutors are unable to fill the minimum requirement of 10 lessons per term.
- Providing school with reports for 1:1 pupils at end of Autumn and Summer term.
- Managing sign up procedure and waiting lists in partnership with the school/department.
- Enrolling pupils in exams - Rockschool/ABRSM/Trinity.
- Invoicing for exams.

I ONLY HAVE A SMALL NUMBER OF PUPILS INTERESTED IN LEARNING A PARTICULAR INSTRUMENT. CAN YOU PROVIDE A TUTOR?

We are aware that when a student shows interest in an instrument it is important to get them enrolled as quickly as possible. Certain instruments are more popular than others from school to school, so often the situation arises where a tutor needs a minimum amount of hours confirmed in order to visit a school.

Currently we ask for a minimum of 2 or 3 hours per tutor, dependent on travel time to your school from an available tutor.
